For weak pull from the portable body, remove the shoulder hose and test directly at the inlet. Strong body suction isolates a crushed cuff, hose blockage, wand joint, or floor attachment; weak suction directs inspection to the paper-bag collar, small bag chamber, motor filter, cover latch, and gasket. A whistling lid points to seal fit rather than a larger motor. If it will not start, inspect the fixed cord, strain relief, switch, terminals, fan, and motor.Remove the shoulder hose and test at the body inlet.
