For weak pull from the portable body, remove the shoulder hose and test directly at the inlet. Strong body suction isolates a crushed cuff, hose blockage, wand joint, or floor attachment; weak suction directs inspection to the paper-bag collar, small bag chamber, motor filter, cover latch, and gasket. A whistling lid points to seal fit rather than a larger motor. If it will not start, inspect the fixed cord, strain relief, switch, terminals, fan, and motor.Remove the shoulder hose and test at the body inlet. Strong pull isolates cuff, hose, wand, or floor tool; weak pull points to bag collar, chamber, motor filter, latch, and gasket. No start follows fixed cord, strain relief, switch, fan, and motor.
