Dry debris needs the documented filter, while liquid pickup depends on an open inlet and free float cage; in both modes, compare hose pull with the side inlet and inspect lid gasket, drum rim, fan path, and exhaust. A rising motor note as liquid fills can signal float closure. The shared shell has no powered brush, belt, battery, charger, reel, or pump.
